Rent. Reduce. Rotaro: Rixo partners with Rotaro

British fashion brand, Rixo is available to rent via online fashion rental service, Rotaro

Since launching in 2019, the fashion rental platform, Rotaro has partnered with a number of our favourite brands. With a catalogue extending from Attico to House of Sunny to Prada, it comes as no surprise the innovative alternative tackling fashion’s issue with over-consumption has taken off.

Co-founder and CEO of Rotaro, Georgie Hyatt says, “At Rotaro, we exist to help fashion brands access their circular economy customers and extend the lifespan of their garments, and to help our community experiment with fashion more mindfully.”

And as of November 1, British brand, Rixo joined the Rotaro family and finally available to rent exclusively via the online platform for six months. Rixo has became a staple in many wardrobes due to the versatility of the vintage-inspired designs that have proven short hemlines are wedding-appropriate and low hemlines can be for the everyday.

The fast-expanding service is available for four, eight or 12 day rentals for as little as £15. Designed to ensure customer satisfaction, the Rotaro team have sussed every issue and offer a solution.

Sick of having to print return labels and trek to a post office? You will find a pre-paid return label bag in your parcel to be dropped at your local DPD Drop Point. Worried the item won’t fit? Keep the ‘Try On’ ribbon attached and return for a full refund. Unsure how to clean the garment? The Rotaro team take care of cleaning themselves. Have a habit of damaging your clothes? You can opt for a small insurance fee of £6 per item at the checkout to cover any damages.

Social media executive at Rotaro and fashion blogger, Yasmine Armengol says, “This partnership is awesome, it plays a big role in Rixo’s sustainable approach and the brand has a huge demand on Rotaro. With the festive season coming, it’s awesome that loyal Rixo customers also get the chance to rent unique pieces at a lower price and make a positive impact on the environment.”

In total, Rotaro have carefully selected 18 Rixo designs that are now available to rent exclusively on their site, including highly-sought after pieces from the Rixo collaboration with Christian Lacroix. Here is a pick of _shift’s top three:

Anastasia dress in carnation spot

Not for the most modest of dressers, the Anastasia Dress features an empire waist, square neckline and cut-out back. The short bishop sleeve and low hemline create a romantic silhouette consisting of three contrasting prints curated by Christian Lacroix that make this piece a stand-out in the collection.

It comes as no surprise Rixo chose Rotaro as their exclusive rental partner due to the ever growing need for alternatives of regular fashion consumption. The push for brands to adapt to consumers’ newfound interest in environmental-consciousness stems from the growing transparency of the unglamorous effects of the fashion industry. According to the UN, three in five of the 100 billion items produced annually are discarded within the first year.

Co-founder of Rixo, Henrietta Rix told Harpers Bazaar, “Consumers today have a conscience, they want to cut down on a wasteful wardrobe and buy pieces that will last – and that can be worn time and time again.”

Although Rixo have failed to publish a sustainability focus for the brand, each piece is designed with longevity in mind; producing investment and versatile pieces, as opposed to the usual trendy collections that go as fast as they came.

Regarding the partnership, Hyatt continues, “We’re thrilled Rixo has chosen us as their fashion rental partner as this iconic British brand is a firm favourite of our community and marks the beginning of established brands actively entering into the rental market. Rixo is a brand we have always admired as they don’t adhere to the typical trend-cycle and produce timeless garments for all. Together we have curated a gorgeous festive season collection that will now be available to rent through Rotaro exclusively.”

As Rotaro continue to develop their catalogue of our favourite designers, we can’t help but wonder – who will be next to join the world of fashion rental?
