Yeezy Gap Engineered By Balenciaga

Because, come on, Balenciaga at Gap prices!

2021 was the year for collaborations – first, the long-awaited Balenciaga and Gucci’s autumn/winter “hacking” activation, then Kim Kardashian’s Skims shapewear brand’s first collaboration with Fendi – and it seems like 2022 will continue the trend with Yeezy Gap Engineered by Balenciaga collab coming soon!

The original Yeezy x Gap collab saw the red puffer coat sold out overnight taking up to $7m (£5m) according to Gap’s Former CEO, Mickey Drexler.

Kanye West continues to dominate the fashion world, as he now owns 100% of Yeezy. And he is now on his way to be collaborating with not only Gap, but also Demna Gvasalia of Balenciaga. If one puffer coat sells out overnight, it’s likely the Yeezy Gap Engineered by Balenciaga will sell out in minutes. As Ye told Vogue, “It is a vision come true to work with Gap and Demna, the creative director of Balenciaga, to make incredible product available to everyone at all times.”

Last July, the first ever collection designed by Demna, marked the return to haute couture of Balenciaga after 53 years; and it was a huge success. And we have high expectations for what this drop will look like. Ye has established a ten-year collaborative partnership with Gap, that has also garnered a lot of public attention and Yeezy’s loyal customers have kept its success on a roll. What will this surprise collaboration bring to the fashion world that is different from everything we have already seen?

Kayne West took to Instagram to confirm this joint venture by sharing an excerpt from the associated legal documents.

It is something special for Demna and Ye to be collaborating together, and as Demna tells Vogue, “There are very few people that I know, especially of Ye’s caliber, who really understand my work so well. He makes me come out of my comfort zone and be a better designer. There’s no ego when we collaborate just a mutual drive to evolve and do something great and new.”

The creative director of Balenciaga also mentioned that the collaboration is a different challenge to what he’s used to. He described how the project will allow him to join forces with Ye, to create utilitarian fashion for everyone as it is the goal for both designers.

With the first drop from Yeezy Gap Engineered by Balenciaga launching this June, and a second drop launching later in 2022. Will you be one of the lucky ones to cop the coveted pieces?
