The fashion killa takes on Formula 1
The fastest growing sport, Formula 1, is making its first venture into fashion by collaborating with Puma, with the German sportswear giant announcing a multi-year deal on October 23. A$AP Rocky, the driving force, is named creative director, taking on an international design role that will impact all future races.
Rocky is said to be releasing the first iteration of the collection at the Super Bowl-style Las Vegas Grand Prix on November 19. Continuing his work at the Miami Grand Prix in 2024, further races will have activations and collections released alongside, even featuring the F1 teams themselves.
In a statement, F1explained, “It is planned that by 2025, Rocky will be fully immersed into the holistic product creative designs for all of the PUMA x F1 products spanning from racewear to fanwear to fashion.”
The first look at the collection shows off Rockys’ flair. Black track jackets are accented with vibrant orange flashes and F1x Puma’s logos throughout the garments. Driver-style gloves are paired with contrast stitched denim, and pearl appliqued balaclavas are matched with neon bursts.
“Working with brands as iconic as Puma, and as innovative as F1, has been truly inspiring,” said Rocky. “When the world sees what we’re doing, I believe a shift will happen with how brands approach taking risks and working with diverse creatives.”
