It's called Robyn and it's set for release this month
Amina Muaddi is set to release the Robyn – not so coincidentally titled with Rihanna’s real first name – sandal on May 6.
Keeping within Muaddi’s signature style, the shoe features her iconic champagne stem heel paired with five translucent straps and embellished clasps. The barely-there element of the shoe and metallic toe create a subtle and versatile glamour.
The eponymous brand began to gain mass recognition in 2019 upon frequently being Rihanna’s choice of shoe. To put it bluntly, if you see a new shot of Riri, she’s probably wearing Amina Muaddi.
Muaddi has featured Rihanna’s endorsement so much on her Instagram that she captioned an August 2019 post, “With risk of this becoming a Rihanna feed, thank you @badgalriri for often choosing me.”
The catalogue is extensive but no surprise. Muaddi mentioned in a 2019 interview with Vogue that the intent behind her designs is “feminine – but with an edge. To have a little bit of sass.” That’s certainly a style Rihanna knows all too well.
A partnership of the ages began that lead to a limited edition collaboration of Rihanna’s Fenty house and Muaddi’s shoe design that sold out and won the Collaborator of the Year gong at the 2020 FN (Footwear News) Achievement Awards. So it comes as no shock that Muaddi has chosen to name her latest release after the fashion mogul.
Launching May 6 in selected retailers, the Robyn sandal may just be the shoe of summer ’21.
