Just one more sleep until Disney's latest remake hits the big screens
Disney’s live-action remake of the animated classic Beauty and the Beast will be released in cinemas tomorrow.
The film features an all star Hollywood cast featuring Harry Potter star Emma Watson, who is swapping her wand for a tiara, as she takes on the role of Belle. Downton Abbey’s Dan Stevens plays the troubled Beast, while Ewan McGregor and Ian McKellen voice the cursed, animated duo, Lumiere and Cogsworth.
Adding to the big names are Ariana Grande and John Legend who perform the film’s iconic track Tale as old as time, stepping in the footsteps of Celine Dion who sang for the 1990s original.
Despite the excitement, the remake has caused controversy due to Disney’s first ‘gay moment’ between Gaston, the foe of the film, and his sidekick LeFou. In conversation with Attitude magazine, the film’s director Bill Condon explained that LeFou is a confused character, and can reveal the film features “a nice, exclusively gay moment in a Disney movement”.
In cinemas from Friday March 17
