Emily goes back to Paris

Emily In Paris has started production of the second season

Lily Collins and co just started filming the second season of Emily in Paris on May 3. Collins posted the announcement on her Instagram story on Monday. The hit series will film in Paris, St.Tropez and across other locations in France.

The show was the most streamed show in 2020 and reached 58 million people in the first two months after its release date. It was critically acclaimed but was criticised by some Parisians for its portrayal of typical French stereotypes.

The story follows Emily, a twenty something marketing executive from Chicago who has the opportunity to work at a French Luxury marketing company called Savoir to improve its social media strategy. Emily is thrown into the Parisian lifestyle and has to face challenges, make friends and learn how the Parisians do it.

More stars of the series are Kate Walsh, William Abadie, Camille Razat, Ashley Park, Philippine Leroy Beaulieu, Lucas Bravo, Samuel Arnold, Bruno Gouery and Arnaud Viard.

Every episode is 30 minutes long and the series was produced by Lily Collins and MTV Entertainment Studios and executive produced and written by Darren Star, whose credits include Melrose Place and Sex and the City. Other executive producers are Tony Hernandez and Lilly Burns of Jax Media and Andrew Fleming.

Patricia Field, who worked on Sex and the City, will be back as the costume designer.

Lily Collins says: “As an actor, an artist, and a creative, the most meaningful gift is to connect with people through your art in some way. It’s an honour to be associated with a project that provided people with some much-needed relief during a trying time when everyone was looking for a reason to smile and laugh. Not only did playing Emily teach me more about myself, but also about the world around me. I couldn’t be happier to be back in Paris for season two to expand upon those lessons, to continue to grow, and learn even more about this beautiful city and all of its character with Emily.”

Darren Star added: “From the beginning we always wanted to create this beautiful cinematic view of Paris. The timing of the series release was fortuitous for us as everyone around the world was able to become armchair travellers and live vicariously through our cast. We could not be more proud and are excited to bring more joy to our fans as we start production on season two.”
