Chanel is set to finance the construction of a new space dedicated to fashion inside Palais Galliera
Already considered the Fashion Museum of Paris due to its numerous temporary fashion exhibitions, the Palais Galliera is to become the home, in its 7,211 square feet basement area, of fashions from the 18th century to the modern day.
The project is being backed by Chanel to the tune of€5.7 million euro. According to the brand, the exhibition space will make exceptional collections accessible to everyone in a new permanent spaces that will bear the name of Gabrielle Chanel.
“Thanks to the valuable support of the house of Chanel, the history of fashion, the excellency of French Haute Couture, the savoir faire and creativity will now have a prestigious place in these new rooms” says Olivier Saillard, the museum’s director.
Set to open in 2019, Palais Galliera will become the only specialist fashion museum in France — and we cannot wait for it.
