Nike x Kaws x Sacai collab

Hot off the heels of last summer’s Nike x Sacai collaboration (no pun intended), it looks like the summer of Sacai is going to carry us forward straight into the new season. On November 22, Nike once again announced a colourful partnership with the fashion brand. This time, it will see them collaborate to design a remix of one of the brand’s pioneering sneaker silhouettes – the Nike Blazer Low – alongside American artist and designer Kaws (AKA Brian Donnelly).

Chitose Abe, the creative director of Sacai, a brand renowned for combining two pieces of clothing together to create an innovative design, can do no wrong when it comes to creating what is arguably one of Nike’s most hyped-up and fast-selling collaborations. After debuting the Sacai x Nike LDWaffle shoe at the brand’s autumn 2020 runway, the design went on to sell out within minutes upon its release. It also sold well over its retail price in the second-hand market.

Following an image leak of two colour combinations from the four shoe drop, crazy hyped reactions came as no surprise. Putting the rumours behind them, Nike took to Instagram to release official images of the drops, giving us a closer look at the electric colour combinations of blue and yellow, burgundy and bright red, grey and green, alongside purple and pink. Following the launch of the first wave, Neptune Blue and Team Red will be released on November 26 and the next wave, Reed and Purple Dusk will soon follow suit, dropping December 9.

While the two brands appear to be mimicking the concepts of their old drops in terms of design aesthetic with a silhouette remix – an approach that is undeniably working – the flagship store Aoyama, has announced a raffle contest for shoppers to get their hands on the coveted collaboration.
