The Last Dinner Party releases ‘Caesar on a TV Screen’

Recently crowned BBC Radio 1’s Sound of 2024, the band has released its fifth single ahead of debut album Prelude to Ecstasy

The Last Dinner Party’s new song Caesar on a TV Screen was released on January 4, alongside a music video adaptation of William Shakespeare’s Julius Ceasar.  Upon first listening, the song encapsulates a theme of power, delving into the unveiling of insecurities. The song and music video successfully portrays Caesar’s emotional and psychological tribulations, while on a quest for power.

The Last Dinner Party are a five piece band consisting of members Abigail Morris (lead singer), Aurora Nishevci (keyboard and vocals), Emily Roberts (lead guitar), Lizzie Mayland (rhythm guitar and vocals) and Georgia Davies (bass). The band formed back in 2021, and has been moving upwards in the music industry ever since.

The hit group has recently won awards, such as Rising Star Brit Award and BBC Radio 1’s Sound of 2024. After two busy years of gigging around the UK, the band released its debut single back in April 2023 titled Nothing Matters. After the release of this banger, they have only progressed and now have over 1,000,000 monthly listeners on Spotify.

In the words of the band, “Caesar on a TV Screen is a vessel for the expression of power through the character of a despotic ruler. It makes fun of and lays bare the kind of masculine fragility and subsequent rage that comes from a place of deep insecurity and a need to be loved.”

A few other singles you may have heard that will be featured on their upcoming debut album Prelude to Ecstasy are Sinner, My Lady of Mercy and On Your Side. Prelude to Ecstasy comes out on all streaming platforms February 2 2024. If you want to find out more about The Last Dinner Party, head to the band’s website.
