The UK’s biggest Eid festival is coming to Stratford

Westfield is preparing to hold a major celebration in its Stratford branch for the first time

East London’s biggest shopping centre, Westfield Stratford City, is holding its first Eid event this weekend.

The free event is running from April 19 to 21 and marks the end of the religious Muslim observance of Ramadan which lasts for 30 days. Ramadan finished last week on April 9 and 10, and Muslims celebrate Eid-al-Fitr to mark the end of the period.

Westfield will be continuing the holiday by transforming into a thriving hub full of independent halal market stalls which will be located in Chestnut Plaza. Stallholders will be serving up freshly cooked foods, traditional Eid sweets and many more delicious goodies.

If food isn’t your bag, then there are other stalls selling everything from homeware to modest fashions and jewellery to fragrances.

The festival will be a joyful celebration of the annual Muslim holiday. It will also be hosting live entertainment in and around the shopping centre, as well as many more markets and events on the day.
