Vivienne Westwood holds its annual sample sale in Hackney

Sample sale season is upon us once again, with the latest offerings being from Vivienne Westwood at The Box in Hackney

Nearing the end of each fashion season, up and coming and established brands alike often host sample sales to get rid of excess stock, making room for new products. The sales are a great opportunity for fashion enthusiasts to enjoy some of their favourite brands that they may not normally have access to.

This past weekend, The Box in Hackney – not to be confused with the controversial cabaret club in Soho – hosted Vivienne Westwood’s annual sample sale. The sale ran from Friday to Sunday, with entry of the first day being ticket-only, though walk-ins were permitted if spaces became available.

Kitty Burrell, a recent Liberal Arts graduate, was willing to try her luck: “What time is it now, four? Yeah I’ve been waiting for nearly five hours now”.

The Box is a venue used to host retail events like sample sales and other pop-ups. Student, Nina Burdon, managed to make it into the sale and explained that the sale had operated a little differently the year prior. “I got a purse,” she says. “It was a bit more expensive than I was hoping for. I came last year and everything was a lot cheaper. I’d say the quality of clothes is better this year, but it was way more expensive.”

Whether or not you managed to make it to this one, The Box will be hosting a range of sample sales throughout the month of November.
